Traditional Medicine?
Traditional Medicine refers to the holistic healing practices rooted in the ancestral knowledge and wisdom of indigenous cultures around the world. Healing, not just for the physical body, but also the spiritual or metaphysical.

The Kongo Cosmogram
The Kongo Cosmogram is among the most sacred and significant symbols within the traditional spiritual and philosophical systems of the Bakongo people. Throughout the African diaspora, it has become a foundational element and major influence within numerous spiritual and religious traditions that developed in the West, largely as a result of the transatlantic human trafficking tragedy and the forced displacement of African peoples.
The spiritual practices of K.S.T.M. are fundamentally rooted in Kongo traditions, with the Kongo Cosmogram woven throughout every aspect of its teachings and practices.
This is a profound symbol, and its depth, complexity, and spiritual significance extend far beyond the following introductory explanations.

MUSONI
Musoni, the southern point, is the point of conception and preparation for rebirth. It's quadrant is about development.

KALA
Kala, the eastern point, is about birth and new beginnings, the emergence into physical existence. It's quadrant is about growth.

TUKULA (TUMBA LOKA)
Tukula, the northern point, represents full manifestation, mastery, maximum spiritual power. In its quadrant things begin to decline.

LUVEMBA
Luvemba, the western point, represents completion, transformation, and death. Its quadrant represents the realm of mystery and the unseen.

What Is Medicine?
The terms and concepts below may not align exactly within some of the Kongo based spiritual traditions practiced in the diaspora. Nonetheless,
In the Kongo tradition, medicine is not merely a substance that treats disease. Medicine is a living relationship between nature, spirit, and humanity. The healer first learns Nlongo, the wisdom of healing. Through that wisdom they come to know the Bilongo, the plants and sacred substances that carry healing power. With knowledge and intention, they prepare Malongo, the medicines that restore balance to body, mind, spirit, community, and the natural world.

NLONGO
Nlongo is the root word of Bi-longo and Ma-longo, and can be loosely translated as medicine. However, medicine is not merely a substance that treats disease. It is a living relationship between nature, spirit, and humanity.
K.S.T.M. views Nlongo as the philosophy or underlying science and sacred wisdom of healing, which encompasses medicinal remedies and sacred works.

BILONGO
Bilongo are the medicinal and spiritually potent substances of nature—including herbs, roots, barks, clays, minerals, oils, resins, waters, and other sacred materials.
The study of Bilongo teaches us to recognize their unique virtues and spiritual qualities and to apply them in the preparation of healing medicines and spiritual works.

MALONGO
in several contexts it is associated with medicinal preparations, medicines, or healing substances. In some areas it can also refer more generally to remedies.
The medicines or medicinal preparations
The finished remedies, formulas, or collections of healing substances prepared by the practitioner.
